Postcards from Bygone Times

Postcards from Bygone Times explores memories of people and places we have left behind – and, for various reasons, we may never return to.

Through cyanotypes in postcard format, mailed to myself, these fragments of the past are physically preserved.

The deep blue tone speaks of memories slowly fading, while the hand-coloured details hold what time has not managed to wash away. The work serves as a tactile and conceptual investigation into the mutability of memory: How do our memories change over time? Do we see them now as we saw them then, or do they return to us through a soft, rose-tinted haze?

Project Details:

  • Unique series of handcrafted postcard cyanotypes

  • Hand-coloured with watercolor pencils
