During a period when days were spent on the sofa and nights in bed. The shifts in the summer light became a way of tracing time. Sometimes it was possible to get up, take a picture, and then return to rest.

The construction of the cover breaks with the habitual movement of opening a book. It leaves it to the reader to find their own way in, and if possible, experience the limitation.

​

Through minimalist photography and fragments of text, the work seeks a poetic language for the seemingly uneventful. In the Artist Edition, materials become part of that language. Translucent layers of hand-treated Japanese paper allow images, light and material to interact across the pages.

 

The interior is held in a pocket formed within the folds of a delicate origami construction made from double-layered Yanpi Gampi paper. The loose colophon is folded and held within the front flap. A twisted silk thread attached to the tip of the flap suggests a lifeline through creativity and making.
