while the roses were in bloom

Trade Edition

while the roses were in bloom explores a period of confinement, studying time, light, and the boundary between inner and outer states. While summer unfolded in full color outside, the world indoors was filtered through sheer curtains. Through minimalist photography and text fragments, the work seeks a poetic language for the seemingly uneventful.

The book serves as the physical site where the work occurs. A rose-patterned cover acts as an outer shell to a secluded, all-white room inside, choreographing the reader through folds and enclosures. The materiality is fundamentally linked to a condition of exhaustion and brain fog — states often misperceived as weakness, but here reflecting a hidden, structural resilience under pressure.

This limited edition of 60 copies (+ 10 H.C.) features a commercially printed interior that beautifully captures the light and tone of the original work. Reflecting the artist's dedication to physical craftsmanship, each book is individually assembled, hand-bound with an exposed silk thread stitch, and enclosed in a unique, custom-made cover created from specialized fine art papers. A testament to the fact that when our outer world shrinks, our inner attention must expand.
