while the roses were in bloom
Limited Edition
During a period when days were spent on the sofa and nights in bed, the shift in the summer light throughout the day became a way of tracing time. Occasionally, it would be possible to get up, take a picture and return to rest.
The construction of the cover breaks with the habitual movement of opening a book. It leaves it to the reader to find their own way in, and if possible, experience the limitation.
Each copy is handmade by the artist, while the interior is digitally printed. Printed with pigment inks on Baohong Masters 300 gsm, the cover is finished with hand-painted bronze edges. A pocket formed within the cover holds the interior. This reinforces the sense of a secluded world. The exposed binding is sewn with waxed silk thread using link stitch and kettle stitch.
Concept, photography, text and design by Madlén Palm.
